Teach & Certify New Divers

The Open Water Scuba Instructor course is where existing (or in-training) Assistant Instructors learn to teach the full range of basic scuba courses including open water, advanced, rescue and divemaster. This is also where instructors from other training agencies can enter the PADI family.

Pre Requisites

18 years of age
PADI Assistant Instructor (or currently enrolled) or full dive instructor from an approved agency.
Submit a doctor signed medical form no more than 12 months old at the conclusion of the course.

Post requisites

After completing your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course all candidates must attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) which is a two day program conducted by PADI Staff.

Prior to final certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor all candidates must also be EFR Instructors. These programs are conducted several times each year.

Price

$750 / diver

Includes all instruction and counseling from one of our in house PADI Course Directors and Instructor Development staff.

After successfully completing the course you are responsible for the application fee (paid directly to PADI) and the PADI IE fee.

Equipment NEEDED

Personal Gear: Mask, snorkel, fins, boots, logbook, knife or diver tool, SMB w/ spool or reel.

Diving System: Tank, BCD with low pressure inflator, primary regulator and alternate air source, SPG, depth gauge or dive computer, compass, quick release weight system and weights, adequate exposure protection, two surface signaling devices (one audible and one visual), dive computer or RDP w/ timing device.

Instructor students are professionals in training and are required to have their own equipment.

You will need a tablet capable of running the current version of the PADI Library App (either iOS or Android) with the PADI Digital Library installed.

You will also need these materials (all materials need to be up to date and current): PADI Open Water Diver Manual, RDP Table w/ Instructions for Use Booklet, eRDPML w/ Instructions for Use Booklet, PADI Advanced Open Water Manual w/ slate, PADI Rescue Diver Manual w/ slate, PADI Divemaster Manual w/ slates, PADI Instructor Development Course Crewpak w/ hologram.

You will also need to complete the PADI Instructor Development Course Online (available for purchase from TGADC).

Your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course can be conducted simultaneously with the PADI Assistant Instructor course for those enthusiastic divers wanting to become a full instructor
